2025 marked Practical Insight’s third year in business, a milestone that moves us from start-up to growing company. That growth and stability stood in contrast to what was happening around us, as Asheville continued its long recovery from Hurricane Helene.
The outpouring of support from the B Corp community that humbled us in 2024 became something we could help put to work. When B Local Asheville launched its Small Business Disaster Relief Fund, backed by donations from B Corps across the country, we helped stand it up, getting $12,550 into the hands of 9 local businesses impacted by the storm. It was the same kind of work we do with clients every day, but this time it was much more personal.
Three years of tracking our own data is starting to tell a story. The share of our spending with local, diverse-owned, and B Corp businesses has climbed from 25% to 45% to 57% this year, proof that small, consistent purchasing decisions add up. We also think beyond what we buy: as a service firm, where our money sleeps is one of our biggest climate choices, which is why we continue to bank with Climate First Bank alongside offsetting our full carbon footprint.
Not every number went up, and we think that’s worth saying too. We gave fewer volunteer hours than last year as we stepped back from regional roles to focus at home, and in 2026 we’re returning to that wider work while preparing for our B Corp recertification. The full picture, the gains and the tradeoffs, is in our 2025 Annual Impact Report.
